Indeed, xenophobia is always the answer. 'Tis the American way.

Both? :P
Either way, you're being racist and making uneducated generalizations. You only notice the cheaters and they happen to speak Spanish, so you think they're all cheaters.
Good job on being part of the problem of society.

I didn't say all Bners are cheaters. Not all Bners play dust. Home Depot would be dead quiet if they did.

2/10 try harder. You haven't even pissed anyone off yet. Because clearly that's how you validate and/or entertain yourself.

Summa Militum wrote:Are you an idiot? He specifically called out POK for being cheaters. He did not generalize the entire hispanic population as being cheaters.
Quite the opposite. He continuously referred to them as a derogatory term for a certain ethnicity, even though we're in a video game and it's irrelevant. Which leads me to believe he has some IRL prejudices and/or gets validation from talking down to people.
Summa Militum wrote:Negative or stereotypical generalizations does not equate to racism.
Racism is the view that once race is superior over another.
A symptom of racism is making negative stereotypes. They go hand-in-hand.

I call it respect and being considerate of other human beings. All this prejudice and ignorance makes me embarrassed to be American.
It's all a matter of perspective.
I guess we're done. Work on your trolling, I barely got upset. o7

Summa Militum wrote:You are incorrect. Pretty much everybody at some point in their life has referred to another person in a derogatory manner. This does not mean we can conclude that everyone is racist.
Negative stereotypes is not a symptom of racism; it is a symptom of basic observation coupled with a generalized view of another person. Think of the negative stereotypes associated with people who smoke weed or people who are in Fraternities or Sororities.
Would you say that a person talking down about people who smoke weed by using false stereotypes is being racist?
(Anecdotal situation)
Negative stereotypes comes from a lack of information and willful ignorance. In the event that it applies to ethnicity, it is racism. I didn't mean to use it as blanket statement of "this=that 100% of the time". It depends on the situation.
And I know plenty of stoners that are cool and productive people.

Since I was a little kid I have always heard people of all races apply negative stereotypes to ditsy, blonde white girls. (ex. How do you drown a blonde, white girl? Put a scratch-n-sniff sticker at the bottom of a swimming pool.) For the white people who used those negative stereotypes towards the stupid white girls would you consider them to be racists against their own race?
Think of the people who commit mass shootings in America. It seems like 95% of those people are white and when that rare moment occurs when the gunmen isn't white people are shocked by it.
Why is that?
Because people in America of all races have acknowledged the stereotype that white people are the ones that go crazy and start shooting everyone. Does this mean everyone is racist who stereotypes white people as most likely to go on a shooting spree?
Would you consider me racist against white people (keep in mind I am white) simply because I am able to use stereotypes to insult white people?
Just think about all of this for a moment.
Understand that this world is full of unbelievably stupid people. Those stupid people spread their ignorance to other people like a plague. The people who end up getting infected with such ignorance are those who can't simply put together an independent thought of their own and instead adapt the thoughts of someone else regardless of how ridiculous it is.
Listening to what other people have to say will take you far in life but being able to spot ignorant ******** will take you further.
-Regardless of what subterm you use, ignorant and/or hateful generalizations are bad. Arguing about the semantics and rhetoric is a distraction from the point.
-There's a difference between making a statistical statement of correlation (telling what's already happened), and making assumptions about an individual's characteristics before having enough information on them.
I'm not entirely sure what the disagreement is. OP made a negative generalization, I called him out, you felt that I wasn't justified in doing so. I'm not bandwagoning, I'm not trying to be some hero, I'm not having an emotional reaction. I took issue with the fact that he involves ethnicity when it's not all that relevant to a video game. It's human nature to detect patterns and use them to be prepared for future events, but it proves to be a problem when used in an ignorant/disdainful way pertaining to race/culture.
Again, negative generalizations based on ethnicity is a common symptom of racism, while it's possible for one to exist without the other in either combination. So who knows; the OP could be racist and I'm justified, or he is not a racist and intentionally made controversial comments to provoke reactions, making me look like one of those people who pull the race card too often.
Meh. I'm not too worried about it anymore. Some say that staying quiet on racism is perpetuating it, but I think I was too quick to take that advice. I'm pretty sure that we live in a society where more than half the people I will theoretically meet are not racist, without having to bring it up. In the words of Morgan Freeman: "The best way to end racism is to stop talking about it."
